I can understand the sensitivity of most peeps on this issue, but the word "native" is not meant as a derogatory aspersion, in this context.
Inasmuch, as I am "native speaker" of English. I have never taken this ro be a slight, even though I have some aboriginal heritage. However the word "abo", moves most people of aboriginal descent, to fits of fury.
Language is funny. The word"gay" has taken on absolutely different connotations in most english speaking nations, in the last 40 years or so. Just read Shakespeare for instance - "They went our for a gay old time." Which merely meant, they went out drinking and whoring. If I am not mistaken the homsexual community is trying too hijack the word "rainbow". That gives one an entirely diffent interpretation of the name "RAINBOW WARRIOR". Hehe, Madi Greenpeace.
This is probably pretty pedantic to most people, but is important in communicating. The only language which doesn't evolve is a dead one.
Like the schoolboys lament: latin is a dead language, as dead as dead can be. At first it killed the Romans, and now it's killing me.
So. If Latun is dead and not evolving, how do you account for: "Un fistula tabaci grabi."? (A cigarette) Unless I am sadly mistaken, tobacco was unknown in the western world, until Sir walter Raleigh brought it back from the Americas.
Inap! Mi mauswara tumas.
