| No Tesla links to Tommy Bolin?. Au Contraire, mon frere.
The following links are rated in "Degrees", ala "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" where artists who performed with Tommy = "Degree 1", and artists who performed with artists who performed with Tommy = Degree 2, etc. Both "live gigs" and "recordings" count as performances). Old timers (in web years) will remember when I had a weekly trivia game for this kinda shit.
-) Degree 2: Tesla's TROY LUCCKETTA played drums on a Marc Bonilla album (American Matador). Marc Bonilla records with Glenn Hughes (Degree 1) and Ronnie Montrose (didn't he do a fest?).
-) Degree 2: Tesla's TROY LUCCKETTA played drums on "GUITAR'S PRACTICING MUSICIANS, VOL. 2", which also included: Bruce Kulik (from KISS of course [did Karen Ulenbarry ever create his outfits, I wonder?], and The Good Rats - with whom Tommy jammed), Marc Bonilla, and Steve Morse (Hello! Deep Purple!).
-) Degree 3: TOMMY SKEOCH, guitar for Tesla, and JEFF KEITH (vocals) played on "Bar 7's 'The World Is a Freak", which includes Steve Smith (jazz fusion stuff, and Journey's drummer), who played with Larry Corryell (who currently plays with Alphonse Mouzon! - Degree 1).
-) Degree 2: TOMMY SKEOCH, guitar for Tesla, played on "A Tribute to Aerosmith", which included Tim Bogert from Vanilla Fudge (which of course included Mark Stein, who was in the Tommy Bolin Band = Degree 1).
-) Degree 4 (follow this one carefully): FRANK HANNON, Tesla's guitar player, played on Jesse's Power Trip's "Not So Innocent", which included bass-player David Sikes, of Aldo Nova's band. Aldo Nova's band included Chuck Burgi (drums), who of course played drums with Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore = Degree 2, Jon Lord = Degree 1). Chuck also appears with Joe Franco (of The Good Rats = Degree 1) on PHOEBE LEGERE's "LAST TANGO IN BUBBLELAND". No, I don't know who Phoebe Legere is either, but she looks HOT. Aldo Nova (guitar) appeared on "Pure 80's Rocks", which included Rainbow and Whitesnake (Covergirl = Degree 1).
-) Degree 3: FRANK HANNON (Degree 3) also played with Richie Kotzen (guitar) in "Jesse's Power Trip". Richie Kotzen (Degree 2) appears with a bunch of recognizable dudes on "INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS, VOL.1: MR. BIG", including Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple), and Stevie Salas (guitarist for, among others, Carmine Appice (Private Eyes = Degree 1) and GLENN HUGHES! = Degree 1).
-) Degree 4: FRANK HANNON (Degree 3) also played with Jesse Bradman (vocals) in "Jessie's Power Trip". Jesse Bradman played with Aynsley Dunbar on UFO's "Power Trip". Aynsley Dunbar has played with everybody, including Frank Zappa (Norma Jean Bell = Degree 1), and Whitesnake (Covergirl).
By the way, Tommy and Tesla both released shit on Geffen Records (Mr. Geffen = Degree 1).
Now get ready to bring your lighters to Clear Lake and bring these guys back for a few encores!
