Avid Media Composer is still what the pros in the industry use most, though there has been some encroachment on the market by Final Cut Pro.
For projects with multi-camera synching, Avid's media management is significantly superior to Final Cut's. Downside is that as software, Avid's products tend to buggier, and their customer support - though it has improved since FCP started making inways into their market - is still mediocre.
For a lot of features at a low price (many of which you may never use), Final Cut wins hands down. But for pure video editing power, you're better off with Avid.
