| Good, okay, bad?
Better or worse than Vista?
I'm asking for my boss.
Thanks! |

That it was after Windows 6 but before Windows 8.
Don't quote me on that. |

Speed and performance has drastically been improved over vista. Vista always felt incomplete, but Windows 7 has cleaned up the rough edges. If you're currently with Vista, then run to the store and get the Windows 7 upgrade.

Have you heard how it handles multi-media and PowerPoint?
My company does a lot of incorporating video into our presentations and we need to make sure it can handle it.
I know Mac is supposedly better for this, but we've got to stick with PC's.
Thank You!!!!! |

Windows 7 is everything Vista claimed it would be, only better. I know that sounds like a lot of hype, but it's faster, takes up less space, and is highly customizable. Also (and I think most important), it works with virtually EVERYTHING - updates are easy, and most manufacturers are falling over each other to put out Windows 7 updates for drivers. And - it won't crash!!!!! (at least as far as I've seen)
If you have a Windows Mobile phone (now called Windows Phone), WM 6.5 seamlessly works with Windows 7. Great for updating and synching your stuff.
Also, I've been on the Technical Preview (that's before Beta) of Office 2010 - again, a home run. Microsoft has been doing their homework, and if you like 2007, 2010 (again) builds on all the good stuff. Beta comes out next week, and I'll be interested to see if they addressed my complaints (which have been few).
I agree - go out and upgrade. If you have Vista, it's a straight upgrade and takes about 5-6 hours. Everything will re-appear. If you have XP, you'll need to do a clean install, which means backing up and re-installing everything. I know it's a pain, but it's worth it.
Also, if you have a machine that's 64-bit capable (mine was), set it up for 64-bit and get the upgrades for that. It's a vast improvement over a 32-bit setup.
