      Hello
I am new to this website.
      Briefly ,
My 9 yr old son is currently in a therapeutic day school within the school district. He is ADHD, anxiety disorder and possibly BP
Many aspects of the school program are very good. However class is self contained, restrictive and has only 8 boys. They are in grades 2-5.
My son who has some E/D and L/D issues is a very extroverted child He thrives on being around people and having playdates.(I believe his need for constant action and entertainment is possibly part of the ADHD) While he has maintained 2 friends from his prior school and one from this new school he is anxious and sad that he has few friends. This in turn creates more anxiety. He wants an active social life and sees his older borther (who is very social and popular) out and about all the time.
I am considering homeschooling for a variety of reasons but would like to know what network exists to assist in creating and fosterng a good social network of friends. We are in a major metorolitan area (suburb of chicago)
Park Districts etc have programs but what about "friendship circles of similar type home school families?
Finally Question #2: Have any of you home schooled a BP child and did you feel it offered any advantages over mainstream public or therapeutic? Thank for any and all information.
