Homeschool in Costa Rica?

Hello all,

I am new here and have a question that I hope someone can help me with. Our family is moving to Costa Rica from California in July. We have decided to home school our children (ages 13 and 10) there. We are looking for information that will help our transition. We are intersted in a secular program that will allow our children to recieve a high school diploma when completed.

Any advice, suggestions, links, etc?

Thanks,

Kurt

Correspondence Courses

There are many ways to get a high school diploma through correspondence. Homeschooling has grown so dramatically that the number of choices available to you are amazing.

You may want to start by just doing a search on the web, but here are a few suggestions:

Hi Joanne,

Well, we made the move to Costa Rica and have started home schooling. We have also started construction of our new home. You can check out the progress at our website.

www.cabinas-tranquilo.com

Homeschooling is going well. We purchased the Oak Meadow program. They are accredited through high school so our daughters will receive a high school diploma from California.
My youngest daughter (10 years) will be starting public school in our village. This will be mostly to make friends and learn spanish. She will still continue with home school. My oldest daughter has been invited to assist with the 6-8 year olds at the elementary school. We have become friends with the woman who runs/teaches at the local village school.

Have you been to Costa Rica before? Where do you plan to relocate? We are on the central pacific coast about 20 minutes south of Jaco Beach. Our village is called Esterillos Oeste. very quaint and very local. We can't wait to move into our house.

I have set up a home computer network so our kids can keep in touch with their friends via email and Instant Messaging.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

regards,

Kurt Raihn

Homeschooling Curriculum

March 2 2005, 6:05 PM

I know that deciding on a curriculum is one of the most important decisions that a parent can make. We at Global Student Network would be pleased if you would consider our curriculum

We provide a complete curriculum, grades 3-12,that is fully aligned to US National Content Standards. It is delivered entirely over the internet, and the low tuition price includes all materials. It is extremely user friendly for both the student and the parent. Currently, there are 68 courses, with 12 more to be completed by the fall.

I invite you to check us out at: www.GlobalStudentNetwork.com

I hope to hear from you soon.

Sure, you may want to join the HSCR list
