This is a wonderful read. I love it! Early day historians are rolling over in their ethnocentric graves, painting these particularly smug early day politicians as something other than what they were, human with human foibles. It is a shame that they did not know about nurturing and accepting children for what(ever) they are, who knows Charles Adams may have been a late budding genius, we will never know. Shame on the early day leaders who chastised their children to death. And shame on Sam Houston for exposing the Cherokee sexual practises to be the Native Kamasutra of the frontier west, enlightening..... That must be why Texas honored him so. I think this is a great book, I will buy it as gifts and add it to my personal collection!
