I attended St Mary's Convent in Cambridge UK from 1981 to 1983. It was run by the IBVM order of nuns. I have to say it was not a particularly pleasant experience. The headmistress was a woman called St Christina Kenworthy-Brown and I can only describe her as extremely unpleasant. She was snobbish both intellectually and socially. Only those who were clever enough to go to Cambridge or Oxford University were encouraged.
Prior to attending that school I was educated at a school called Poles Covent(now closed down unfortunately) which was run by an order called the FCJs (Faithful Companions of Jesus). A much kinder, nicer and more compassionate order by far. They have closed down their small private schools and only teach in deprived inner city comprehensive schools.
