I like being dropped into the middle of a story and delving right into the peoples lives instead of a bunch of background.
You don't know if his concern is over the new kid or his wifes 40th birthday.
I've read Susan Wigg before and realy liked some of her historical books. My favorite was:
The Raven and the Rose - the BEST - Knights - midevil
The Charm School - is pretty good to - Regency England
