Reporter Frank Corso, the only writer allowed to observe the high profile trial of a thug charged with 63 counts of murder, finds out that his close friend, photographer Meg Dougherty, is in the ICU after a run-in with a couple of hoods. It doesn't take long for Frank to realize there's a mysterious connection between the story Meg was chasing down and the courtroom spectacle he's witnessing.

Off to a good start

Although I'm sure that "Black River" has a modern day setting, when I read the opening murder scene, I kept picturing it as though it was an old black & white classic set in the 40s/50s.

Am going to order this book - I want to know what happens!

Tightly woven story. Moves rapidly. Some description but not enough to impede movement of story. Corso an interesting character. Strong, silent type.

Will wait until Friday to see if I want to read the novel.

Pulled me in at first read and then changed gears on me leaving me to try to piece together the two events. Guess that's the sign of a good mystery.
I like his writing, good descriptive analogies, and his protagonist. Think I will get this one from the library.

I think I want to read the entire book ASAP. I like Mr. Corso so far and am looking forward to the trial of a "bad guy". Incidentally I love the author`n name. G.M. Ford-as if he can`t decide between auto manufacturers.
