Based on an unsolved 1969 homicide, this latest Kinsey Millhone case puts her on the trail of the murderer of a young "Jane Doe, " whose body was discovered 18 years ago near a quarry off California's Highway 1. The original detectives want one last shot to solve the case, and they turn to Kinsey to help identify the girl and find her killer. Unabridged.

Quarry

I sent my response to Suzanne in error. I enjoyed listening to Quarry and will look for the book in the library. The Dragnet-like feel appealed to me. My mom and I use to watch Dragnet when she brought me home from ballet class. We would heat up chicken pot pies and eat them and watch the program. Quarry reminds me of these times. The reader is excellent in relaying that Jack Webb feel for me. I had to laugh how the main character reacts to the detective's habits of smoking and drinking despite health concerns. I like the age of the characters in this story. I like the setting of the story so different from where I live.
Thanks.

Query

May 19 2003, 12:17 PM

Having read or listened to all of Sue Graton's "alphabet" series thus far, I was anxious to preview Q if for Query. The audio had appropriate lead in music and was read by a good, deep voiced female reader.

As some of Grafton's more recent works have not been as spunky as the earlier works, I was curious about Q. From the samplings, it appears that Q may be at the same calipher as Sue's earlier writings. (Yeah!)

Will definitely purchase as soon as it is out in paperback.

I love all the alphabeth mysteries and keep looking for the new one -- just can't get enough.

Wonder what she will do when she finishes "Z".
