I am liking this one already. The people are real -I can even hear the British accent. This book sort of reminds me of the comical southern novels..ie , "Fried Green Tomatoes".I am looking forward to the rest of the week.
What a sweet story. It is very believable that the little girl is in fact telling the story -- no doubt due to great writing. I think it's a wonderful story and will look forward to reading it in its entirety.
Kinda fun so far. I'm enjoying the descriptive British bits. Aunt Maggie is interesting, but I don't quite see the charm of Rose, yet. I'll keep reading. jill
I love it so far, although I don't see what's so "magnificent" about Auntie Maggie. Rosie keeps *saying* that she's magnificent, but I don't see it yet. And Rosie is very matter-of-fact. But I do like the story, so I'll keep reading!
Well, the 'backstory' seems like it would have made a good chapter in this tale, and now I hope we get on with the rest of the story. Still can't see the wonder of Rose, but the other characters are rather interesting. jill
I like the characters... Aunt Maggie is great... I am thinking that Rose will have to age quite a bit and pretty quickly for this book to go anywhere though... Not a bad read though :)
I'd like to add my congratulations to the author of this book. What an incredible success this story is! A keeper, for sure, and one of the best books I've read in years. I ordered it from the library. After I read it, I ordered it from Amazon. It's well worth re-reading. The characters are alive, and the descriptions were skillful enough to make you forget they are descriptions. Add that wonderful humor... Thank you for writing a book that I can add to my favorites!
