i read to get away, not become depressed

January 20 2004, 9:09 PM

i am really in to reading so i joined this club, but so far these books look really depressing and i just wanted to say that not all teens are depressed and want to read about teens who are. I think you should pick some more fiction. I don't know about anyone else but i read to enjoy myself no to cry myself to sleep.

i think this book is turning out to be a good read. i like the style of writing so far. especially the lines; "He wants to talk about himself. I smooth my face into a mask of interest." Those sentences were so captivating. i wanted to wrap myself in those words, they inspired me so much.

Alt Ed (my thoughts)

January 22 2004, 6:41 AM

I like it. I mean, normally I would like any type of contemporary fiction novel, but this one I am way into at the moment, and am considering checking it out from my public library. It is a book that really anyone can relate to, whether you are overweight or not...Maybe you get made fun of? Maybe you are part of the "geeks" or "dorky" crowd. So so far so good. The only thing that I don't get is the truck thing, and whether they like, went back in time at one point or something. I was a little confused at that, but I'm guessing she was blamed for vandalizing a truck and got into trouble for it, and the whole time switching thing may just be me. But all in all, as I said before, it's a good read.

Pooky's right!

January 22 2004, 3:44 PM

yeah, i think it's true what Pooky said (lol) this book seems like a book anyone could relate to. I mean I was never a 'geek', 'nerd', or anything like that. But im what some would call a 'punk', or 'goth', and we get made fun of just as much as any other 'nerd/geek' wether you believe me or not, ok?!
Hey and if you are a punk or goth, you rock! it's ok to be your self! and please email me, i don't know many who are! LOL!!!!

what Susan did....

One of my favorite books is called Keeping The Moon, and the MC was overweight and was made fun of because she hung out with a guy and everyone called her a slut, even though nothing happened. Do I get the feeling from entry #4 that something similar may have happened??

I didn't think this book was very good. It didn't have any sort of adventure in it. I have never heard of the author before! I would never buy a book by this author, as it's not really for me.
It was very nice getting the emails though!
