Good beginning

This is a good beginning, but doesn't really sound like a lot of the book, based on the jacket. It sounds like it's going to get techie - and while I do like techie, I'm definitely in a more fantasy mood right now.

Wondering about the daughter

February 10 2004, 5:07 PM

From what I've read so far, it seems this book will focus on the daughter - which is interesting, since we really haven't "met" her yet. I can't wait to read more. :)

Very good

I have loved the first two installments already. I like to study ancient cultures and the story of Atlantis has intrigued me. I can not wait for tomorrow. Good choice this week.

ASSAULT ON ATLANTIS

I am hooked. Now I have to start with the very first Atlantis book by Donegan. Science fiction weaved with evolution, anthropology and history has always intrigued me. I like this selection. I wish it could be longer, however, the small size of the e-mail makes it easy to read on the run.

Okay but not great fare

Series can either be good or bad for a novelist. As a writer in a bestselling action-adventure series, I have found a common mistake authors make in series is not letting each story stand pretty much on its own.

Having tasted the beginning of this novel, I did not find myself entertained simply because I could not really follow what was going on. I also could not seem to take a stake in the characters, or to care what happened to them. I don't call the book good or bad. I simply feel that it is geared toward a very narrow readership, and I'm surprised that the publisher would classify it as science fiction.

Bottom line: not for me. If you're looking for hard sci-fi, look elsewhere.
