Now Altman takes "The Touch" one step further in a new novel inspired by his acclaimed anthology about a world divided by "SDS"--and terrified of its implications as the afflicted fight for their freedom, and their lives.

I read this book several weeks ago. For those interested I found it to be a very enjoyable read. Mr. Altman has created a world that is both familiar and strange. The concept of someone not being to touch another human without damaging them is rather unique to genre. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good escape.

Being unable to touch someone is not quite as unique in sci-fi as you think. The same thing is true about the central character in another weekly read. That one is "In the Company of Others". The plot is quite different though. This one reminds me of Super Heroes or Power Rangers each depriver having a different power.

Just enough outside reality

I like this book so far. It steps just enough outside reality to be interesting, and the characters display a complexity that makes them interesting, even if you don't like them. My fiance has requested this book from the library, and I'll definately read it after he's done with it.
