Buried Treasure

As a Caribbean person, I have always found stories of pirates and buried treasure absolutely spellbinding. This modern day tale of the hunt for the "Holy Grail" and buried treasure is a must-read for me! Hurry, please with part two....!!!

This is one I will probably buy. Mysteries and pirates are two of my favorites things.

I am with you Bernie. I love a good pirate story...it doesn't matter if its fiction or non-fiction, the story line always fascinates me.

There is a wonderfully authoiritative tone to the book but this author only "reports" in the most cliche'd terms his own emotionality. There must be an emotional arc, that engages us, tempts us -- we have to want something for him. He is frightened of getting personal.

"Pirate chop shop"

I love that phrase describing the place where the pirates pulled their ships in for repairs. I'm feeling the excitement. I want to go on this expedition too.

Treasure Island

Pirates are not my cup of tea. I also agree with a previous reviewer, the writing style doesn't elicit my interest.

In Agreement

The style is just too dry and uninspiring. I'm not "feeling" the story.

He has a body of interest fact at his disposal and has done much research, but there are far too many passive voice sentences, too much telling and too little showing. Today's installment was much better and he almost begins to evoke the period but then lapses into telling again. He still leaves himself out of the narrative except for superficials.

This is also kind of a biography of Captain Kidd. Very interesting person.
