Loving the book...but the title could be a little better. Do hope that people look at the back cover and discover what a wonderful book this will be...cannot wait til it is on the shelf.

Interesting insight into both dog and human nature. It seems that we have needed each other for centuries. Loving the book, can't wait to read on...

Human as "therapit's dog"

Hi. First there's Luggs, the therapist's inky black dog that the patient periodically takes care of -- (1) because she's feeling a bit guilty about being treated for free, but mainly (2) because the patient sees it as a way of trying to get closer to her therapist.

Really enjoyed the aspects of the narrator feeling how the patient-therapist relationship in many ways mirros the human-dog relationship.

Passaging describing dog behavior are simply marvelous!

The book gets stronger as I read deeper (the opening paragraphs did not immediately pull me in). Sometimes the historical passages seemed an interruption and longer than necessary -- but the writer did gives us some cool facts: such as why adult wolves don't bark, but most dogs do -- except the dogs which belonged to North American Indians! Humm...
