An aura of foreboding

August 9 2004, 8:54 AM

I really liked the first section. The author did a great job of letting us know that something creepy was going to happen (buried alive, etc.) even though what was actually going on was pretty mundane. This book won the Edgar award for best mystery, so I was looking forward to reading it anyway. It sounds really exciting.

Sweet!

August 10 2004, 10:29 PM

the way the author writes makes even a subway lost and found sound interesting, but when he finds the warped diary the interest increases ten-fold, i am soo eager to read what comes next, even after only two installments, i've already ordered the book from the library!

This book was awesome! I'm going to read some more books by Graham McNamee! One of them I think is "Hate You". It sounds interesting. Great choice!

It does sound interesting. I love the idea of finding a diary, reading someone's most inner thoughts. And this one sounds creepy. What do you do with that kind of information? Very intriguing so far. And the whole summer job thing - know what that's like!

Woah!

August 11 2004, 11:03 AM

Today's section is so weird! I wonder why he got out so far, and how he got to the bottom without realizing it. The chapter starts out strangely, putting you right there in the middle of the dream, without much warning. Anyway This will be added to my list of books to read.

Hasta la vista-

Well...

August 11 2004, 9:36 PM

well... the story talks about how he is a great swimmer so he was out so far because he knew that he is a good swimme therefore knowing that he could go out that far... and he knew he was going deep into the water ... he did that because it made him not hear the world above him ... or like the book says to block out the girls screams.

Yesterday's excerpt was disturbing, when he reads what is in the diary, very warped. Today with the dream is kind of slow, although I've had dreams that seem to take forever to write down, they're so long. Still, the writing's pretty good.

Today's was interesting, at least you find out why he hides his hand. But I feel like we drifted off the subject.
