Science Fiction Book Club The Child Goddess by Louise Marley Buy book: $16.06
The award-winning author of The Maquisarde weaves a compelling story of a woman whose faith may be the only thing that can save a girl from certain doom.
In the story so far I really like the order of Mary M. and I love that they live in Italy. My favorite part of Dune was the character/characters of the reverand mother and that order of priestesses and how they had been traveling around for centuries and setting up the religous myths.
This story has that same mysterious pull making you want to read more about the priestess and the child. This is getting good.
While I do like this read, I'm really anxious to see what the child is like. It's almost as if she's an afterthought at this point...or not quite real. I'm considering checking this one out at work.
At the very beginning of the book I was a little put off. The story started out slow and didn't present a story right a way. I stuck with it and read the following reviews and became more interested in the book each day. I've become very curious about the little girl. And the idea of a religous organization caring for her adds to the curiosity of the book. I'm planning of checking out this book from the library. We'll see if I recommend it to my wife after I read it.
