Good News Book Club When You Believe by Deoborah Bedford Buy book: $10.61
The gifted "USA Today" bestselling author of "A Morning Like This" delivers a novel of a troubled young girl and the confession that will put an engaged couple to the test and rock their small town to the core.
I've never read anything before about sexual abuse. There is too much negative in the world either. This novel might have pulled me in if I didn't know the punch line already about what Shelby is going to accuse Charlie off. I hope it has some positive things coming too. It has to be good if Suzanne is willing to give her own copy away. (I already have knots in my stomach after reading it.)
I agree with BJ, reading the book Jacket was the hook that got me to read this one, but I also don't like knowing too much about what's going to happen.
I reserved the book at the library and I hope its available by the time we get part 5 in our email.
Well my library (Hennepin county, so I'm not slowing Diana down), got me the book already so I picked it up at lunch today, just in time too. Unfortunately they only had 2 copies and they are in Large Print, but demand must be increasing fast because they dropped it down to a 2 week loan (normally we get 3 weeks). I should have the book done by Monday.
Wow, what a book! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. This has been excellent so far, and I can't wait to see what the next installment has for us!
I am loving to read this book, and I would like to buy it, but I live in Brazil - Sao Paulo and looking for in the bookstore I couldnīt find it. So, I will have to wait till some friend travel to NY and buy it to me.
Any way I like so much to receive your emails and read your letters and recommendations.
I'm absolutely gripped by this book! I'm getting such a physical reaction to the unfolding events. I have never had a comparative experience but am very aware this happens all too often in schools. Usually it is fellow students, but faculty - that is something else. I hope there is a happy ending.
Next week Wednesday, the Pewaukee community I live in is having a ground-breaking ceremony for our desperately needed new library, we're currently housed in a tiny old church. Finally, we will have room for many new books, I'd be pleased if you could send this one to our shelves!
By the 3rd day I had to order it into the library. I was so excited to see that the author has written other books! Wish there was an installment 6, 7, etc.!!!
I was able to get this at my library and finished it within 2 days.
Unfortunately this kind of thing does happen! I was "touched" just once by an uncle when I was in first or second grade and never told. Many years later I found out that he also had been fondling my 2 neices for years. I probably never got close enough to him again to let him touch me that way, but I had lots of guilt for not telling even though I know that no one would have believed me. No one talked about that subject in the 60's. I'm glad that she wrote this book, because if it never happened to you or someone you know maybe it's because they aren't talking!
It is also very common for someone to name someone else to get attention because they know when it is a family member it is not believed. I hope she keeps up the good writing, I also have read another book by her "A Rose by the door". Good stuff!
