Buy book: $5.36

Holm's 1963 novel "North to Freedom" is the basis for an upcoming motion picture from Walden Media, starring James Caviezel and Joan Plowright. In 1952, after escaping from the Communist concentration camp in Bulgaria where he's spent most of his life, 12-year-old David struggles to cope in a strange, new world, and seeks refuge in Denmark. David's extraordinary odyssey is dramatically chronicled in Holm's classic about the meaning of freedom and the power of hope.

Interesting

This book seems interesting. The beggining sure was a cliff hanger. The book looks adventurous, and I love adventure. "I am David" wil hopefully turn out to be very good.

A MUST-READ FOR ALL!!

October 5 2004, 5:33 PM

I read this book a couple of years ago, and this is the most amazing book! I loved it so much that I read it twice! Even if you don't like holocaust books you should still read this! It isn't anything about it! I encourage everyone to go and get this from their local library!!

NORTH TO FREEDOM

If you are looking for this book at the library and you can't find it, try looking under North to Freedom. That's the title that I read this book under.

A couple of years ago a read all the Holocaust stuff I could get my hands on! This book looks pretty good. I just wish I could have read it in sixth grade.

"I am David"

October 5 2004, 8:12 AM

This is a really intersting book. I think it will be a great idea to check it out from the library or even buy it. The end of this week will not stop me from continuing. I think that the man was trying to help David, not hurt him. I wonder what will happen on the ship?

I've noticed something- the worse a book is, the more posts it gets. Anyway, does anyone else in this club live in NJ?

"I am David"

This is a really great book. Tommarrow I am going to the library to get it, or if I like it enough I will buy it after I have read a little more. Can you imagine never being in a vehicle before. The only way we get from place to place now is by car. Even if I am going 10 min down the road my mom or dad take me in the car. I am so thankful for cars. Good luck everyone on next weeks book, Bye!

Great Story

June 30 2005, 12:12 PM

I saw the movie first. I really enjoyed the movie, but as it usually the case, the book was much better.

The movie does differ from the book in a lot of aspects, but was entertaining nonetheless.

I thought the book was great and would recommend it to anyone - adult or young person!
