This is a book to give loved ones

October 25 2004, 9:48 AM

I never get tired of the retelling of Bible stories but it is even better when it is told with modern day references. Relating the science of God's creation to our everyday lives and how best to function in this high-stress world is truly inspiring. Those of us who need to rally family and friends to help each other and work together need this manual for living.

I am hoping for the audio book of this one since getting my family to read is not always easy.

This is a keeper, Cori

"Teaching to Fish" seems very routine to me

I was excited about what I thought the concept that would be explored in this book. However, in the three selections from the book I have read so far, I have been disappointed. The author provides short vignettes about people she has interviewed, meetings she has attended and relates these back to principles Jesus taught. But the relations she draws seem to me to be rather obvious, not very sophisticated, not very challenging.

It was interesting

I was not able to read all the excerpts from the book but what I did read was very interesting. It is definately for a person who is trying to understand leadership better and to use Jesus as a primary example as the epitome of what effective leadership is was very good.
I wish she could have expanded more but then I thought Jesus only expanded so much, he wanted us to think more and deeply, so I felt this author was trying to convey the same message.
I will definately purchase this book and share with others.

Yes the expansion is in trying to put it to work

Since I primarily work to enhance the lives of those closest to me, I get much practice in helping people to make small steps toward a larger goal. I love seeing those I care about improve their health and relationships one small step at a time. Those little steps snowball and pretty soon I am seeing them make strides in their lives I would never have dreamed of. Watching and supporting the realization of the dreams of myself and others is more fun for me than almost anything else. This book gives me ideas that have already born fruit in the lives of myself and others. I am very grateful for getting the chance to sample it.
