"An Air That Kills"

Thank you for sending this book. I used to find it difficult to read about pollution and the other damage humans have inflicted on this planet, but reading such books helped me to see where in my life I can make changes for the good of the environment, from personal and household habits, to writing letters to newspapers and elected officials, to voting! We need to inform ourselves about what we have done to the Earth so we can help stop further harm. I hope this book will do that.

For those who are interested, there is a web-site dedicated to these types of cancers. It is at http://www.mesotheliomamemorial.com.

Interesting

I am very intrigued by this (sad) story so far. I used to work for a company that was a subsidiary of Grace. It makes me *sick* to think they were operating the mine and knew the dangers. I don't see how CEOs etc can sleep at night knowing they are potentially doing so much harm. If I can stay with this all week I plan on getting this book. Thanks for one I'd probably never have come across.

We trust that "some one out there is taking care of this." Libby, MT sounds like Love Canal; like any mining town around the world inundated by mountains of tailings after a ferocious rain; like my mom's dogged reliance on her physician, who ignored her complaints until the leukemia was quite advanced. She trusted that doctor, just as the public trusts that officials and CEOs act honorably.
When reporters sound the alarm, and action ensues, we are blessed. We take action when we see the huge, fiery ball that Indiana Jones ran from, hurtling toward us.

An Air that Kills

This book really grabbed me. I work for an organization that provides access to information about hazardous chemicals. Everyday I review data about these chemicals and their effects, but it's not attached to people. Reading this excerpt brought the data to life. It's so important to have agency like the EPA to protect the public from the uncontrolled exploitation of the environment.
