Years ago, Lou Boldt's wife Liz had an affair with David Hayes, a young computer specialist at the bank where she is an executive. When Liz ended the relationship after reconciling with Lou, Hayes partook of a daring embezzlement scheme. Now, years later, Hayes is trying to retrieve the money he hid for the Russian mob, and contacts Liz to try and gain access to the bank's mainframe. Liz is torn between wanting to protect the bank and needing to protect her children, who are being threatened. Boldt, ripped apart by the discovery of his wife's possible blackmail, must skate a delicate line between determined detective and jealous husband, if he is to find the money while exposing and stopping Hayes.

Good Read!

I read this book as soon as it came out. It's really good. Same tension between Lou and his wife, same problems juggling his personal and professional life, etc. All of this author's books are winners.

This is a new author for me. I am a little confused about the description of a story about a doctor in the Smoky Mountains and the setting of Seattle in the first chapter. Am I confusing two stories? The first chapter looks interesting and I am inclined to read more.

I've read all of the Lou Boldt books and it's a great series that I would recommend to anyone.

Gripping story

I wasn't too sure about this one, after reading the synopsis, but I'm glad I've been reading it through! Very interesting and the tale keeps getting more and more intriguing. I can hardly wait to see how this all plays out.
