Business Book Club The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki Buy book: $16.98
A new product, a new service, a new company, a new division, a new anything--where there's a will, here's the way, with Kawasaki's essential steps to launching one's dreams.
I am surprised that no one has posted a message already knowing Kawasaki's background. Also his book is perfect for those who made the new year's resolution of starting a company :)
It's a great tool, straight to the point and I am going to buy it for a couple of friends who are thinking to start a business.
Looks like this book is full of novel perspectives: for instance the take on "Ask women" in Part 4 of 5 . My experience tells me that his views seem to corroborate what we see in the real world.
I really enjoyed this read and will be buying this book. I started my own business last September and find what he says to be quite true and useful.
Since I'm in the process of collaborating with a few others on an internet business, I think this would be very helpful for us in being able to come up with a doable plan.
I also can see how it can help my regular full-time job, in terms of creating a mission that truly states what we are trying to do.
This is a definite recommendation for anyone that has anything to do with business models, mission statements, or is concerned about how their organization is portrayed!

"What wild desires, what restless torments seize
The hapless man, who feels the book-disease..."
- Dr. John Ferriar (from the poem Bibliomania, 1863)
From part 5...
"However, the opposite holds true for internal entrepreneurs. You want to be left alone until either your project is too far along to ignore or the rest of the company realizes that it's needed. "
I took my son to see "Phantom of the Opera" at the theater last weekend. In the story, the star diva had been training in secret (with the *Phantom* no less!) until her opportunity to shine suddenly arrived. In a moment of crisis, her well-honed voice saved the opera.
I guess being in the right place, at the right time, with the right stuff is more than just luck, it takes some preparation and patience.
Guy kawasaki has done a good work for every bussiness me/women in search of success in 2005. This is how to start a new year, I am motivated, inspired and highly encouraged. Well done!
