Mystery Book Club Dead Famous by Carol O'Connell Buy book: $6.80
The "USA Today" bestselling author of "Crime School" returns with a new Mallory novel. When the jurors on a controversial trial are murdered one by one, only Detective Kathleen Mallory can find the connection between the murders--and it's taking her dangerously close to the edge.
It's a cold dark morning here, and what a perfect setting to start a new mystery. This seems to be very, very well written- the images are clear and compelling. The first scene in the street was simply laid out, and has me wanting more! What are they watching? What happened to the man's wife? When did the prolouge occur? How did Joanna Apollo (great name) get into that line of work? What about the lady detective- what's her story? What a great start...
I agree with Irene, I think this book is intriguing. It is a little offbeat, so it might not be for everyone, but to me the characters are interesting and the writing is great. I just ordered it and can't wait to read the rest of the story.
I really tried to get into this book. I think the writing is choppy and interferes with the plot development. I want to care about these characters but nothing grabs me. I'll keep plodding along, but I don't think I'll be reserving this at the library.
The beginning was intriguing, but I was disappointed in this book. It was just a it too dark and dreary all the way through, and the story didn't flow smoothly - it was hard to tell what was going on some of the time. I also did not like the main character, Mallory, who was really not the main character in this story. I would not recommend it.
