I have no interest in gambling, casinos or Vegas and yet this book has grabbed and hooked me right away! Looks like a real page turner. Thanks for this selection b/c I otherwise wouldn't have even picked up the book, good reviews and all.
This is a rejuvenating beginning, filled with heart pounding energy, I was scared they were going to get caught,(that is Kevin and the Red head-girl) can't wait to see what happens. This is not my usual read, but it has caught my attention. Its a good one I'll say.
This has all the suspense and intrigue of a good mystery - and it's true !!! -
Sounds like a great read and will get to learn all about what and what is not "legal" - for now I'm saying "Go - Go - Go" to the MIT students but what do I know?
I haven't had much time to post, but this book is one that I've been wanting to read for a long time. Thanks to Suzanne, I am taking a break from studying and indulging in a little reading for FUN!
I read this book a few months ago and couldn't put it down. It truly is a case of truth being stranger than fiction. Were this a fiction book, I think most readers would laugh at it. But it isn't fiction, it is the truth - the incredible truth. I couldn't put it down and found my pulse racing from time to time as the hotel security descended on the gamblers.
Most times, I don't find the chapter a day books to my liking but this one certainly has my interest. I immediately went to my library's website and have requested the book to put on hold for me.

I can believe that I was looking forward to see the next step of this story!! I almost thought He would get caught!! It had me scared...as if I was there..now thats a book!!looking forward to the next read.
Well - you all probably already know - but I found today on a site that card counting is not illegal but of course the casinos will escort you to the door if they are aware you are doing so - guess they have the right to choose who they allow to gamble in their establishment and of course they don't want anyone in there who might win their money - also once they find anyone doing so, they distribute their pictures around to other casinos - just fyi - in case you are planning a gambling junket - don't get caught card counting -- (anyone with a different set of facts?) -
This book is phenomenal, and a hell of a read. I picked it up last year and finished it in a bit more than a day...I can't believe you guys have to wait and read it in such small pieces. I know basic strategy quite well, but haven't been able to execute card counting. It's not difficult in principle, but executing it in a casino is something else. Add to that the enormous sums of money they use and the targets on their backs as a blackjack team makes what they managed to pull off quite amazing.
Well, looks like we are now on our way to an exciting adventure - so just sit back and enjoy the ride I guess - but don't know if I can relax enough at this point to sit back - am on the edge of my seat -
What a book - excitement, intrigue, and intensity - with much apprehension thrown in - you all are probably finished with it by now but I - unlike my daughter - cannot read a book at a sitting - I read in increments -
Became interested in this book after someone tried to explain how to "count cards".
It was a mystery to me.
Read and enjoyed the book. In fact, a "documentary" has run on one of the cable channels twice in the past few months. This added to my enjoyment.
I wound up giving this book as a Xmas gift last year.
