In this new novel from the author of "Indigo Dying," China Bayles prepares for the annual Picklefest, while her husband prepares for a new career that may put them in a murderous mess.
Oh goody, a new China Bayles that I haven't read. It's like pulling on a well worn comfortable old shirt. This first little snippet, as always with Albert's books, makes me want to start a little shop somewhere & sell herbs in fragrant bundles. Ah...
China Bayles novels are like an old shirt - comfortable and always welcomed...
I was just thinking the other day that I need to connect back up with this series and here it is...
Seemed too short a read today to really get into it - and the format of the days' offerings seem a little repetious to me - the beginning introduction and the end of the read are almost the same - seems one of them could be omitted and give us more of the "book" -
Can see why you all like this book - the way she writes just like she is telling me this info over a cup of tea in her kitchen - and think I am already in love with her husband - just the name "McQuaid" - tho it is his family name which he must share with his not so likeable mother - think this goes on my library list also -
I like this book, It's great to start a good book again, I've been deleting for the past few weeks. I've never read this author before but I'm putting her on my 'authors to read' list.
Oh, how that reference to the painted barns takes me back to my childhood when we indeed saw all the signs of "See Rock City" on our trips - along with the Burma Shave signs -
Does Phoebe remind you all of anyone else we all know and love or love to hate? - Could she be an incarnation of a "pickled" Martha? - oh, that was so bad - but could not resist - lol -
I love mysteries and am always looking for a new author. I had not heard of this series before and I like it a lot so far. I will be looking for the previous stories so I can catch up. I agree, reading it is like sitting in the kitchen catching up with a friend. Good call on this one!
