have you read the previous book in this series??

April 18 2005, 4:10 PM

It drives me crazy!!! The man is in love with his wife's sister!! Ohhh....it's just one that makes you mad, you know??? I haven't read this one yet, and don't really plan to. They have a newer one than this one and just reading the back of it tells me that it is worse--much worse. :( Just wondering if any of you have read any of this series and what you think of it.

Great!

I wasn't sure about this book at first.
After I got in to it I had a hard time putting it down. I read the entire book.

This story taken from the life of Jacob Leah and Rachel in the bible.

I was surprised the turn the story took.
I felt sad as I was reading.
The more I read the more I realized the spititual message revealed in this book about true repentance.
I do with I had known about the first book Thorn in My Heart before I read this one.

Reads more like...

April 19 2005, 10:31 AM

... a romance novel? And I don't read those. I'm still hanging in there to find out if the husband turns out to be a real cad.

Remember the life of Jacob in the Bible?

April 19 2005, 1:02 PM

This story resembles the life of Jacob in the Bible with his two wives Leah and Rachel. Jacob thought he was marrying Rachel but instead was deceived into marrying Leah.

Ironic End to Jacob Love Affair

April 20 2005, 3:21 PM

I remember that event in the Bible. Ironically, it turns out that Rachel dies when they are traveling and is buried beside the road and Leah is who Jacob instructs his children to have him buried with. He loved Rachel, but ended up withe Leah at the beginning AND at the end. I wonder also if this book will be in some ways similar. At least Leah was well aware of Jacob's desire for her sister, though. Leana doesn't seem to have a clue that her husband says he is in love with Rose.

Well, after today's selection, I think it is fairly obvious that Leana knows that Rose is in love with Jaime and has been for quite a while. It seems that something happened in the past where Leana stole Jaime away from Rose?? I think it is interesting that all the names start with the same letters as the ones in the Jacob story. Suppose the author did that on purpose?

Aha!

So Leana DOES know about Rose and Jamie. What a tangled web!

Love This Book!! :)

April 22 2005, 3:34 AM

I read each days book passage with great anticipation. I thought it was great. I've seen Liz Curtis Higgs in person once and she was a hoot. Several of her earlier romantic novels were just "all right" not really that good. I think this one has a lot of promise. It will be interesting to see how she handles this dilemna from a Christian's point of view. I received book 5 on Thursday. Were did book 4 go?
Thank you Suzanne so much for sharing this book with us!!

The Trials of Life

April 22 2005, 10:48 AM

Life is not as smooth as it often appears to outsiders. It deals with class restraints that leave the door open for the usual problems.

It IS a Parallel with the Jacob Story!

April 22 2005, 1:19 PM

Jamie even has the twin brother that was threatening his life! I bet that Rose and Leana's father tricked or forced Jamie into marrying Leana like the bible story too.
