Encourage Others

May 2 2005, 6:28 AM

I don't know anything about this author, but I know this first segment was very encouraging. People need encouragement from others. Who can get too much of this good thing? I enjoyed this segment tremendously. Can't wait until tomorrows.

I liked the opening quote. This sounds like a 'pay it forward' book, a good way to live.

Interesting Read

May 2 2005, 10:25 AM

As I've said before, I am not into new age type stuff, so I was appehensive when I read about 7 levels of power, but this author definitely has "the touch" when it comes to good writing. I enjoyed this first installment, and will be eagerly awaiting tomorrow's:)

no new age

May 3 2005, 6:06 AM

No new agey stuff for me either but I don't want to miss something worth reading. It's always good to hear about people doing things like the man paying the woman's rent. The good deed spreads out like ripples as we who read about it benefit from it in different ways. It's a faith booster in what is sometimes a negative world.

Not new age

May 3 2005, 1:28 PM

While reading the selection for today, I was reminded of a "small" act of kindness that meant a lot.
I moved to a new house - and it was a mess. I had a lot of friends helping, but when they left late at night, I was surrounded by boxes and piles of things. Exhausted I just roamed around some - and then I found one of my friends had cleared the spare bedroom - and made up the bed - and put a towel on the end of the bed. That small act of kindness remains with me today.
So this book really resounds with me.

You're Right

Pam, you are right about hearing these stories being a faith booster and spreading like ripples. What a neat way of expressing your idea! I had that experience when I read today's read. These stories enrich us and they bring to mind the things others have done to make a difference in our lives, like when someone recently mysteriously and anonymously sent a gift certificate for my 5 children to get shoes the other day out of the blue. They won't ever know how much that meant to me!

here come the chakras

May 4 2005, 5:59 AM

So, the chakra at the bottom of your spine is related to material things....does that have anything to do with my friends who have lower back pain???
I would rather read all the letters she got than information about chakras.

Significance of chakras

May 4 2005, 9:47 AM

We store stress in our body, at the different energy centers.

eg. fear of the future, we have stomach related problems. This is the mental worry about what will happen in the future.

When you are angry, your heart thumps, stress related to the present is stored in the heart.

This book is definitely a must read for me, since she has explained the chakras beautifully. I have been trying to read more about the chakras, but I haven't found relevant information yet.

definitely new age

I don't agree with combining mercy and grace as all being grace. Mercy is witholding deserved punishment. Grace is an undeserved gift.

Anyway, lumping together Eastern religion with Christianity is going a bit too far for me.

I want the letters:)

May 4 2005, 2:46 PM

I guess that I just don't get into this chakra's thing. I would like to read some of the letters that are in this book, but I will probably be skipping over the chakra stuff. To me grace is a manifestation of God, undeserving and a gift freely given. God doesn't need chakras to work through us and gift us with His graces. Bring on the letters:) The only energy I see in the world that pervades everything is God, since all exists and comes from Him. Not this mysterious "energy" that surrounds us all. Of course, each to their own. I choose God and His ways.

mercy and grace

May 7 2005, 8:21 AM

I just thought I'd pass on what our pastor recently tought on the subject:

Mercy is about accountabily: getting forgiveness when we fail. Grace can include mercy, but it is much, much more.

Grace is about empowerment, receiving God's power to live and to grow. God's delivery system for the miracle of grace is PEOPLE.
Miracles happen when we people strengthen one another, by being for another what s/he cannot be for her/himself, so that s/he can be reconciled to life and to God , and so recieve God's power to grow.

The Checkras are a state of accomplishment for most individuals who are not out there.
