The Lady and the Unicorn
by Tracy Chevalier
Buy book: $13.90

An extraordinary story exquisitely told, Chevalier's "The Lady and the Unicorn" weaves history and fiction into a beautiful, timeless, and intriguing literary tapestry that rivals in grace and grandeur the masterpiece that inspired it.

I know, I know, she is an excellent writer...but I rarely like historical fiction.

I read this book last year and enjoyed reading about the tapestry, While not as good as Girl with the Pearl Earing. It might make a better movie.

I enjoy historical fiction,so I am looking forward to reading the rest of the excerpts of this book.
I have not read Girl with a Pearl Earring;I did see the movie, and found it rather slow and tedious

probably pass

I am smiling at some of the previous messages.....I actually DO enjoy historical fiction but I admit I have to be in a certain mood for it and kind of have to be literally curled up with a book for this sort of writing. So, I will pass on this week's selection but am interested in others' opinions b/c one day will want to read it!
I also agree with the comment that the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring" was slow but I DO remember the book being much richer....just a case where maybe the story didn't transfer as well to film.
Thank you Susanne for picking one I can skip b/c I am SOOOO far behind inthe books I want to read, lol.

This one grabbed me. We just came home from Paris last week and plan to go again soon, so this is right up my alley. I've also put the Girl with the Pearl Earring on my library wish list too. (Boy, gotta love online libraries)

Thanks for the recommendation!

Love,
Ang

The classic story of a desparate woman that feels a supernatural force will ensure that all is hunkydory.
