The author of the Silverwing trilogy creates a new fantasy in which humans fly but the airplane has never been invented. In the early 20th century, a young orphan serves as a cabin boy aboard an airship and is witness to life-and-death battles in the sea and above land.
i might get it, even tho they havent sent in the first part it sounds interesting. do you think you will get it? I posted cause i wont be able to post for monday to friday but i alwasy like to post a message=D. i know im weird.
I've heard of Kenneth Oppel before, but I've never really had the time and heart to try one of his books from the 'Silverwing' because I just don't like bats! Bats are fine really, but writing a trilogy on human-like imperial life on them may be a little too much. Airborn looked interesting and I've seen it on the library shelf, but never took it out consindering the 'issues' with Silverwing. The first part seems quite interesting and much better than I expected. I hope the rest of the book keeps going on strong!
Airborn seems to put me in a lot of suspense, and I'm pretty sure it's not just me. Is anybody in the 'Endurance' balloon? What signifigance does this balloon represent in this first part of the story? It may have a good plot, but I still have many of those 'Who is he and where did he come from?' questions about Matt. Does he have parents? How did he end up as a cabin boy on 'Endurance'? What is he doing up there, so young? Why aren't these questions answered. Although some may want it to be kept a mystery, I need some background information.
I've decided that Airborn is a good enough book for me, my week long quest will be to borrow it from the library and finish reading it. It's not too bad- I've seen worse, believe me!
Yes! Half of my quest has been finished Captain! Yeah! I got Airborn from the library and read quite a bit of it. I got up to the part where Matt meets Kate de Vries, not giving away any details so if you want to know who she is, read the book! Airborn is pretty good so far and I'm sure that it's going to get even better!
kenneth oppel makes the bast books about bats that i've ever read.He makes sound like your right there and with the excitement.I read his book and I thought I was shade. It was fun

I've just put a hold on it to. It sounds terrific! I love when a book is in a perspective of someone who is kinda the underdog that no one notices because they see everything.
Well so far it seems cool. I like Matt. I don't know why, but I have a good feeling about him. (Don't mind me, I have a tendency to take fiction a bit too realistically). I think this'll be a book worth reading.

This book is actually pretty good so far, better than what i expected. i am going to have to read a bit more before deciding to take it out. That was quite the debate going on with the last book, 24 messages, wow. ever since ive joined this club in january i havent seent that much, so that was cool.
I love this book so far, it's got a good flow to it. I tink the plot will come to something interesting. The endurance baloon is intriguing can't wait to find out what happens. I agrre with you Cassie, i like MAtt to, he seems really cool.
Based on the introduction to this book, I didn't expect to like it. It's not the type of book I usually read. But, surprisingly, I am finding it an interesting read. I am anxious to read more. I love when that happens!
This book seems pretty good. I'm not sure wheither i'll get it or not. i also missplaced my library card so i can't put anything on old. it'll be on my list of books to read though. sorry, but for some reason it felt like friday today. did it feel like that to you or was it just me??

I just finished reading this book and it keeps you wondering and guessing to the very end. Plus it has a conclusion that catches up with the main charactures six monthes later. A Must read, I'm sorry if I'm just babbling, It's just a great book!
We are looking at using this book as a summer "read" for an academic program. We will be looking for ways to communicate with others who have read the book.
