Buy book: $14.51

Based on eight years of groundbreaking research in Mongolia, this history of the great conqueror argues that rather than a crude barbarian, Khan was one of the most progressive and influential rulers in all of world history.

Great Book

This is one of the best biographies I've read in years. If historically accurate (I'm assuming it is), it completely changes the face of Genghis Khan as history has portrayed him. His ideas on leadership, mostly civic but military as well, were centuries ahead of his time. The man was a visionary leader. Unfortunately for the world, those left in control upon his death were not.

I borrowed this book from my public library, but plan to purchase it for my personal collection. It's definitely a keeper.

This is instantly captivating. Wouldn't the search for Ghengis Khan's Spirit Banner make a good topic for a mystery book?

yes, i agree- all I heard previously was that the barbarians caused the dark ages and contiuned to wreak havoc whenever possible. I guess it depends on one's viewpoint, but most written material, that I've read were very negative about the Mongols. I will read the rest of the book.

This seems really interesting, it has a very nice feel that many nonfiction books seen to lack. His history as a child is very captivating. I can't wait for the other reads.

Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World

I am so fascinated by the real life of Khan as never told before. The aspect of destruction leading to a better outcome has always been a factual thing for me. But never have I heard the story of Genghis Khan, it provides excellent solidity to my theory. I look forward to reading the book in full length to enliven what has been kept a mystery to me.

Unfortunately I missed the firs day`s read (don`t ask) but what I have just read today, day 2, is fascinating and I will be looking for this book to read in it`s entirety. Again I must thank the book club for finding something that I probably would not have come across by my self.
