Bryson City Seasons by Walt Larimore, MD Buy book: $12.73
Dr. Larimore and his family are back in this hilarious, dramatic, and poignant sequel that follows this real doctor's second year of practice in a rural Smoky Mountain town.
Today's selection reminds me of the "Who's on first?" routine! I'm looking forward to reading more tomorrow and have already checked out the first book in this series.
I found the switch from comedy to being confronted with the dead logger a little abrupt or in bad taste or something. I expected it to be a scarecrow the way everyone was treating it as a joke. Prior to that I was enjoying it.
I also found the switch from comedy to the dead logger abrupt. It seemed to me, though, to give me the same type of viceral "shock" that the character we were reading about was going through. He at first thought it was a joke, but then he felt like getting sick. The writing got me to "feel" the character's feelings in a stroner way than I would have otherwise. I admit, it was unsettling, but then it made me think, "Wow, this writer really knows how to get you to even FEEL what the character is feeling in a real way. Cool." It creeped me out, but I think that was the point.
This one got my attention. I am curious as to the "shocking" mystery of the dead logger. Will put this one on my list. I hope it turns out to be as interesting as it sounds so far.
