Breaking Ground

How interesting! Mr. Libeskind does a fantastic job of drawing the reader in immediately. I'm not one to go out and read a book about architecture. Sure, I enjoy looking at different structures and wondering as to the uses it had served when first constructed. I think this will be an interesting read, since we'll be reading from the view of the person creating the architecture we look at every day.

Building

This is the first book that has peaked my interest since I have been receiving messages from you. I belong to two book groups and if the book stays half as interesting as it started I would recommend it to both groups.

I have been to the Berlin Museum but not after the Jewish section was built. He understood the mystery and the duality of Berlin not just East and West but of mind set.

I am totally taken by the poetry Mr. Libeskind uses to describe how he is inspired to design a building. I will definitely be adding this book to my reading list for this summer!

Fascinating

I was so drawn into this book -- which is a delightful mixture of biography, art and architecture -- that I spent an interesting and informative hour on the Internet, looking at all the buildings the author mentions in just the first few pages. It was an eye-opener to understand (at least, to some degree) what before had been perceived as strange shapes and angles. The imagery and atmosphere conveyed by today's read, that describes the huge pit and awesome slurry wall of Ground Zero, is masterful. Daniel Libeskind proves that he can write sensitively and lyrically, as well as design great buildings. I have ordered this book for myself and will probably give copies away as Christmas gifts.

Fascinating

This one is a must-read. Unfortunately, my local library is not in the network, and the closest library that is, is not close at all. Unless my library does get it, which they have not done, I'll just have to buy it. What a innovative and interesting man. I look forward to his vision for the reconstruction of the World Trade Center.

I was so drawn into Libeskind's style of writing, his ways of thinking and creating. This is an awesome book! I was so fascinated that I did a little reasearch and found the Jewish Museum Berlin online and thought I would share. Truly magnificient!!
