Four Tenths of an Acre
by Laurie Lisle
Buy book: $15.71

Finding herself at a crossroads after a divorce, writer Laurie Lisle packed up her Manhattan apartment and headed for literally greener pastures in rural Connecticut. There, in a pre-Revolutionary New England village, she discovered a historic house set upon a long, narrow piece of land--and immediately knew the property had to be hers.

Four Tenths of an Acre

So far, I've read the four installments and find it to be an extremely engaging and sensitive writing. It brings fond memories of my love of gardening that I've neglected for far too long, but the author has a deeper message that I think many readers will find thought provoking. I look forward to reading the entire book.

Not a Word? -

I read just an excerpt of this book on amazon and looks to be a pleasant read - a memoir - not a novel - but the bit I got to read sounds a lot like the beginning of an Elizabeth Berg novel I read called (I believe) "A year of pleasure" -

My husband brought 4 William Faulkner books home yesterday from a yard sale - some of his most popular I think - don't know if I have read any of his books tho' am very familiar with his name - so am going to check those out - the ones he brought are - Light in August, As I Lay Dying, Sanctuary, and The Sound and the Fury - (am almost sure that last was made into a movie)

Any Faulkner fans out there? -

Faulkner

Hi Doris, I got some Faulkner books at a yard sale last year and read one of them but I can't remember which one, maybe it was As I Lay Dying. Found it dark and depressing.

Hi Pam - glad to hear from you - I have just started Light in August and am really liking - has sort of a slow dreamy thought process, is the way I would describe right now - of course, I have a sinus infection so maybe the dreaminess is due to my medication -
