Golfing With God by Roland Merullo Buy book: $15.56
Hank's afterlife takes an unexpected turn when he is summoned to help a player whose game is in a slump. To his dismay, his new pupil is God Himself. Or Herself. Depending on the day.
Based on the title alone, I would never have chosen this book. Golf is not my thing. But the prologue was intriguing.
If you put the TV show 'Joan of Arcadia', the movie 'Oh God', and the golfer, Tiger Woods in a bag and shook them up, you might get this kind of story. So far, it is entertaining as well as thought provoking.
I would not have picked up this book either judging by the title, but I am so glad Suzanne choose it for us. I can't wait to read the following installments. It's just too bad that we have to wait a few more weeks for this book to come out.
This book is a pleasant surprise. I'd never have picked it up based on the title as I don't golf--and don't know anyone who does. But the prose is delightful and the concept amusing and I'll keep reading.
This is not funny, nor satyrical, nor thought provoking, except to wonder why anyone would think that God would need help from the likes of us. The suthor is confusing his creativity with The Creator.
