This book has my attention too, but I can't help but wonder if Kate's husband is so wonderful, could it be that she is misssing on purpose? And, if she broke it off with Noah years ago, could her mother's snooty attitude have something to do with that? I'm eager to hear what's next!
I like this book right off. But I wish there was more in our inboxes....like maybe up to 5 chapters instead of 3?
Today's read was far too short. They are not even out of the bar yet! I guess this pacing is for character development which I think is the most important aspect of writing a story.
My question is why is Mommy so worried about what her daughter is up to? I want to know exactly what Miss Kate would be involved in that would cause her mother to worry, her husband not to worry, and the instant need for a PI, rather than the traditional missing persons report. I know that sometimes relationship scars go pretty deep (and long standing) but why is Mommy so worried her daughter will go slumming, and feel the need to "remind" our hero that he just ain't it?
I wouldn't normally read something like this but having grown up in San Diego and lived on Mission Blvd and then later, near La Jolla, reading about all the familiar sights, sounds and even the smell of the ocean, is heartwarming. My first boyfriend and I rode the roller coaster at Belmont Park on our first and only date. I went to San Diego State. Then I joined the military and moved far away. I've been back for visits but after 20 years, it just isn't the same. I'm going to get this book and enjoy it in my little corner of the Pentagon and dream of sunny San Diego, while it is cold, windy and probably snowing here.
