Sixteen-year-old Star is angry that her mother has died and nothing seems to make her feel better. It is not until Star finds an unsent letter addressed to John Lennon and a broken-down vintage Gibson guitar that she begins to find a way out of her grief and maybe even a way to take care of some unfinished business left by her mother.

Well right off the bat I can see that this book really isnt for me. I know it might be a good book but I dont need another sappy teen empathy story. I have to much to deal with of my own let alone the rest of the worlds.

Still not sure if I like the story, but I do like the author's writing style. Very good writing.

I am really really enjoying this story.(Should I call it a story??? I will anyway) Its not my usual choice of style. Im more into teen girly novels about girls who are worried about how they look all the time and which boy fancies who.
This story is in complete contrast which is why im liking it so much. I've only just joined the book club, because I like to read. I wasn't sure what I was meant to do, but now I am thoroughly thankful that I did join.

Well I've rattled on a bit too much now. See ya soon. Katie x

Good for you, Katie! It's a cool bookclub- I don't like every single week, but I'm definitely glad that I joined when I did! I'm not into all those girly books, but I really like this one and am thinking about getting it from the library (if they have it... I never check until after I've read all five excerpts)
I really enjoy the bond that Star has with her brother, though
