Grave Intent
by Deborah LeBlanc
Buy book: $6.29

In all their years at the funeral home, Janet and Michael Savoy had never seen anything like the Gypsy funeral for 19-year-old Thalia Stevenson, who is to be buried with a special gold coin. When that coin is stolen, the Savoys must find and return the coin to Thalia's grave--or suffer the consequences.

Too genre minded...

This novel was not published in the horror genre...it's fiction. It's very well written. More of a psychological thriller.

Hello!
Thank you for your response and your feedback. We appreciate it. This book is part of the horror genre as well as the fiction genre. You see this happening more often. We see a lot of cross over marketing with the publishers, book store, etc. This allows a more people to be exposed to a book.

If you have any book suggestions for the horror club please let us know. We love to hear from our readers and appreciate any feedback.

Have a great day.

Gypsies- horror

January 30 2006, 8:38 AM

Anonymous,
I appreciate the comment you offered regarding gypsies being the subject of a horror novel. However, I think you may find as you read along, that Grave Intent covers a much broader perspective. Gypsies are only a part of this story, as are Cajuns, as are funeral directors, as are so many elements of the book. I have received many letters from those who still follow Roma customs, thanking me for showing them in such a different light. :)

I'm on day 2 of the readings and am really enjoying this, getting a good sense of who Anna is and the conflicts she's facing. After today's read, I'm even more fascinated by this story.

Where's the next masterpiece???

February 1 2006, 7:38 PM

I found her first book, "Family Inheritance" where I normally wouldn't - a horror convention. Usually I'm wary of first novels, but FI blew me away & bought it for my students (of a writing class - who entered her "Challenge" for $5G).
I read "Grave Intent" in 2 sittings - once, to enjoy the reading; the second, to savor her writing.
So seldom do I find an author in the suspense/horror field who knows how to make setting such an integral part of the plot - AND have a cool story with "real" characters.
Just one question - where's the next book???
