I must get this book. I'm raising a preteen son (thank goodness!!) but am nonetheless fascinated/shocked by pre teen girl behavior and how they treat each other. Did we REALLY act like this? Whoa. Am ordering it ASAP. It also hooked me b/c I lived in NW DC for yrs and can picture all of this.

I will be purchasing this book ASAP.

I love the writers style of writing and can comiserate as a mother of a 15 year old. Raising children is a very hard job. I love the issues she has brought out already like, the myth that you think when you get them in school it will be easier, the idea that you have turned into a chauffer after you finish working for those of us that still work and the fact that our childrens relationships at school do effect the social situations in the community with the parents. I could go on and on.

Great job.

Mrs. D, I've pre-oredered it from Amazon. I absolutely love this book. I feel like I am living it! Today's (5th) reading was excellent. These must be standard "welcome to middle school" talks (about lying etc). I am really enjoying the descriptions in this book of the moms (or 'mothers'!)Oh, yes....been there, doing that......Our son goes to a private school in SC and although many many layers below private school life in DC (been THERE too!)I am smiling at the common themes. Wonderful writing. Can't wait to read the whole book and hope she writes more.
