Hunted by a powerful man who wants her dead, Tess Sinclair flees her Texas home in search of anonymity, safety, and a new life. While a flat tire and stormy weather slow her escape, they prove the least of her worries. Just hours after her getaway, a hired gunman tracks her down. Grabbed in a parking lot, Tess is certain she'll be killed . . . until a handsome hitchhiker intervenes. But can she trust the blue-eyed cowboy who appoints himself her guardian?
Hi, readers!
Beth Cornelison here. I'm honored to have my book CHASING A DREAM be part of the DearReader.com program!
CHASING A DREAM was a book of my heart.
The idea came to me while driving home from a trip to North Carolina. I spotted a hitchhiker along the highway and, being that I was alone (well, I had my toddler age son in the car with me), safety dictated that I not pick up a stranger. But, as writers do, I started imagining a scenario where a woman felt she'd actually be *safer* if she picked up a hitchhiker. Of course, loving romance as I do, I naturally made that hitchhiker a charming, handsome, brave guy with whom my woman in peril could find true love. Ah romance! <g>
I'd love to talk with you about the book or answer questions about the book if you have any. I'll check back in here daily, so let me hear from you!
Happy reading!
Hi! Thanks for posting!
So glad you are intrigued by the premise of the story and hope you'll be able to read the whole book eventually. I'd love to know what you think of Tess's determination to save herself from Randall's violent hold over her.
It was fun to write Tess, showing her grit and evolution to a stronger, more confident woman.
BTW, I noticed that lines from the story that are in the book in italics (indicating an internal thought for a character) came through on my email as quotations, like dialogue. Hm... Hope that doesn't prove confusing for y'all.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and hope you'll enjoy the rest of the excerpts!
Have a great day...
My, I am hooked already. I can't wait till tomorrow's read. I love the characters so far. I hope that the book continues to have suspense wound into the story.
Hello Beth. I am enjoying your book so much. Your descriptions are wonderful. I felt as though I were experiencing Randall's anger (although, thank God, I have never been in an abusive situation)and Tess's fear and desperation (neither have I ever had someone trying to murder me!). The tension is great! Can't wait for tomorrow's installment. I'll probably end up buying this book.
So glad you are enjoying the book so far, Pat!
And thank goodness you've never experienced an abusive relationship or had someone trying to kill you! :-) I haven't either- whew!- so it was mentally exhausting to try to put myself in Tess's place to make her emotions feel real. But it was worth it and I knew she had a lght at the end of her tunnel...
Tip for the day: When you go on vacation and stay at a hotel, save the bottles of shampoo, lotion and soap that you don't use and collect them to take to your local women's shelter. Often these women have to leave an abusive home with nothing but the clothes on their back. Remember these women and their children at Christmas, too!
Thanks and happy reading to all!
Hello, Kade-
Yes, the rest of the story has plenty of danger and suspense throughout! I couldn't make it *easy* for Tess to get away from Randall! No, no, no... she's gonna work for it! <evil laugh>
The exciting, suspenseful scenes are probably my favorite to write, so I promise there will be lots of those!
Glad you are hooked on the characters too. As I said in my first post, this was a story of my heart, and Justin especially made me fall in love with him.
Well, happy reading!

Hi Jackie,
Yes, CHASING A DREAM is in some libraries, but not necessarily all. If your library does not carry it, I think you can request that they order it. Happy to hear you're enjoying the sneak peek!
BTW -anyone interested in receiving my author's newsletter by email can send me a note with your email address to bcornelison @ jam.rr.com (without the spaces). As a bonus, I'll also add your name to the drawing I'm having for a basket of goodies at the end of the month. (Some of my favorite things... chocolate, coffee, cat items, and books!)
Best wishes,
Hi, Jackie-
I had responded to your note a couple days ago but I never saw it get posted... Hm.
Anyway the answer to your question is Yes. Some libraries will have CHASING A DREAM. If your local library does not have it, I believe you can request that they order it.
Thanks for asking, and I hope you've enjoyed the sneak peek!
Dear all reading Chasing a Dream,
I can't wait to find out more about the cowboy! I have a feeling that Randall sent the cowboy to look for Tess. I mean, c'mon, why would anyone be walking alone on the streets on a rainy day!..and be right in time to help Tess fix a flat tire! it's too coincidental. Tess started off the story being unlucky with Randall, I don't think that luck will come to her that early into the story. or maybe i'm wrong- this story is suppose to be romantic right? Maybe, the cowboy will turn out to be her lover, or maybe im wrong about both.
Can everyone reading this book please tell me (or i guess all of the readers) what you think of the story? most importantly what you think of the mysterious cowboy?
I really like the beginning of this book, I can't wait to read more!!
Hi, Kaysn-
Glad the cowboy intrigued you!
He wasn't so much on the streets of a town as out in the boonies of Texas along the highway when he got caught in the rain with no where to take shelter.
Here's what the dust cover says about him...
Grabbed in a parking lot, Tess is certain she'll be killed ... until a handsome hitchhiker intervenes. But can she trust the blue-eyed cowboy who appoints himself her guardian?
He's chasing a dream . . .
Nothing can stop Justin Boyd from his pursuit of a music career in Nashville--except a woman in peril. Haunted by his sister's murder, Justin can't walk away from Tess until he knows she's safe. Justin puts his dreams of the music spotlight on hold until he can make amends for mistakes from his past. Yet the stakes in this game of vengeance are higher than he ever imagined, and the price for freeing Tess might be his own life.
