The End of California
by Steve Yarbrough
Buy book: $15.56

A PEN/Faulkner finalist for "Prisoners of War," Yarbrough now returns to the Delta--not seen through the historical lens of World War II nor of Jim Crow, as in his previous novels, but in the blinding light of contemporary life.

Looks to be promising - what is it about these ol' southern books that pull me in? - possibly my southern roots -

Well I usually do not get hooked so fast. The first part sets up a lot of factors that intrest me. Mother/ child and no one happpy! Why? It is on my list.

I am glad I read this book! It really had some good character development and explored the whole idea of forgiveness and change in an interesting light. I've been done with the book for a week, but the characters are with me still.
