This looks like the best pick of the week. Can't wait until tomorrow. I just love this book club I find so many new authors that I would have never read before.
This is a good book so far, but it's kind of confusing if you just read the first chapter. Although it did get my attention, and it looks like my kind of book so far.
I read Shaffner's first book, In the Land of Second Chances, some time ago and was unaware that he had written a follow up. The first book was deeply meaningful to me at the time and when I learned that this was the selection for the week, I snagged a copy at the library. I can't wait to get into it. I will be very interested in your comments.
Just this first excerpt reminds me of a new author that I discovered here. Tamar Myers is the author and I don't remember which book Suzanne featured but I've read the first in the series and can't wait to get a chance to read the others. Looking forward to the rest of the week.
I'm enjoying this week's selection. The characters are sympathetic, and the plot involved enough to keep me wondering what happened and why. I'm glad to hear that there is a first book in the series. I'd like to start there before proceeding so I'll know the history behind these relationships.
I, too, am going to seek out the first book before continuing on with this one. The selection did get my interest up though. I think this service is a great way to learn about different authors!
I'm confused after today's read. I was picturing Loretta as a grandmother and today she has a two-year old. The way the main guy keeps being refered to as Mr. Moore is a little annoying. OK - give the guy a first name already if he is so intregal to the story. Just a little constructive critisicm. Also seemed to mention a couple other characters that I don't remember being mentioned earlier. This may just be one that needs to be read in sequence. Overall, it's a pretty interesting read though.
Kristi, you don't need to read the first one before this one, the author does a good job of summarizing all the characters and their roles. Mr. Moore's first name is Vernon. The fascinating part of both books is how he manages to work through seemingly impossible dilemmas using logic. I'm loving it!
I have finished this book and I really liked all the different characters. I actually went and read the first book before reading this one and I am glad I did, this one now made more sense. I wasn't impressed by the references to reincarnation in either book. I do hope he writes another one though.
