Try it

I got a copy of this one from the library because of the author's first novel, THE SWALLOWS OF KABUL. It was breathtaking. I hope this one measures up.

wow

I agree with both reviewers. The opening description of the bomb blast was excellent in every way. I haven't read the first novel that was referred to either, and put both of them on my "must read" list.

Wonderful pick

I have neglected a couple of the other reads because of my busy schedule. NOT this one. I am completely on board and cannot wait to see what happens next.

Capturing the tension of true life

February 9 2007, 8:45 AM

I read part of the Swallows of Kabul before I had to set it aside for school work. I do remember the excellent characterization. Once again I felt deep empathy for this doctor who wants to do good but is kept in a box by his race. Of course I want to finish this one and I hope this summer I'll be able to pick up Swallows for another chance.

I read the first installment of this book, and just couldn't wait for the next one. I have already requested this book from the library. Tragic and compelling.
