Now back in Wyoming I call her frequently and she mentioned Howie's book so it holds special value for me to be able discuss it with her. Researching family records at the National Archives and Mass Vital records I found unexplainable birth and marriage descrepancies that The Bulger Brothers now sheds light on. Anyone reading it can expect an entertaining and informative view of the proper and improper Bostonians. Enjoy.

I was not sure if I was going to enjoy this read because it seemed a little too heavy with gangsters etc. I've had enough of the Soprano/Godfather genre. But I always read the first day's covers from Ascension. This is a well written and intelligent book. Good on the history of South Boston. Colorful characters. I am not sure if I am going to take it out of the library yet. I'll know by Friday if I am captivated enough. A very good book for history buffs.
