reflection of first chapter

the depressing opening to the chapter made me sad for the widow and reminded us to cherish our love ones and make memories because sooner or later, they'll leave us and the only "tangible link" to the things those memories one day is the objects they left and the memories we made with them.

I agree with Sarah that the beginning segment leaves the reader feeling sad for the inn keeper, but also hopeful that she will find love in the future. She seems like a person that has a good character, caring and compassionate towards others. I'm looking forward to reading day 2's installment.

I agree that the story opens on a sad note but as I read on today I am a little tickled at the thought of a runaway elderly widow and have plenty of questions running around in my head that call out to be answered....... definintly reading on!
