A New Kind of Normal
by Carol Kent
Buy book: $12.18

Through the eight chapters in this book, Kent uses her family’s story, the story of Mary, mother of Jesus, and stories of women who have experienced their own "new normal" to share how God has led them to choose life, gratitude, vulnerability, involvement, forgiveness, trust, and action.

waiting in line

With tears in my eyes, I envy you waiting in line to see your son. My son committed suicide two years ago. A new kind of" normal" we go to church on Christmas Eve and put a gift near his headstone. But, I guess it is like waiting in line--one day we'll be reunited in heaven.
I do want to finish reading the book to find out where you found your strength.

A New Kind of Normal

Whenever you hear about someone killing someone else it's hard to have much sympathy for them. But reading about this story gives you a new perspective. That not every person in prison is a career criminal. Some people are law abiding citizens that acted on a thought that had lasting consequences. I can't imagine the pain of the parents having to visit their child in a prison for years on end. Makes you really thankful for what you call normal in your own life.

A new kind of normal -

A most heart wrenching and also inspirational read - just from the five reads this week - seems the author offers ways of coping with any horrendous pain that we may experience (not just a prayer to god) but proactive thoughts and actions we may undertake to help ourselves make it through -

We lost our son to cancer in June of this year so I am relating to many emotions in this book and not enjoying the read, but that is not to say it is not well written, which it is.
I prefer to read something to take me away from my pain instead of reliving it.
Maybe further in my recovery I can continue this book.
