This exhilarating story is the transporting tale of how the sensual, romantic elements of haute Chinese cuisine become the perfect ingredients to lift the troubled soul of a grieving American woman.

Loved this book! The perfect blend for me of mystery, suspense, romance and delicious sounding descriptions of Chinese, not Chinese-American, food. Learning a little about another country/culture is also a plus and makes it a great book club read.

The Last Chinese Chef -

This book pulled me in with the first read and after today's read is tugging at me even more - with the man trying to find just the right chopping block made from the "living spirit" of a tree - my library does not have - but perhaps can get an inter-library loan - don't really need to purchase as I am now in the process of culling my books deciding which are "keepers" and which to donate - tho' may decide this one is a "keeper" -

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the beginning of this book. I also initially thought I was not going to like it.

So far I love this book, it reminds me of my anglo son in Seattle, who is a chef/ artisan. He is currently studing chinese and japaneese food and people really love his creations. I hope to travel to Asia next year.
