As soon as I read that the lawyer's name was "Dewey Cheatum" I lost all interest in reading this book. I am sure you all remember the old joke about the law firm named "Dewey Cheatum and Howe?"
I got stopped at the name of the town, "Fort Floppett," give me a break! The lawyer was the final nail. I was hoping the the characters would be a little less slap stick.
Well, it wasn't so much a joke as a play on words...the name of a law firm being Dewey, Cheatum and Howe. If you say it really fast it's comes out: Do We Cheat Em and How!!
That's all!
Sorry, but I still couldn't get past that. And, I don't take it as slap-stick humor...because the book isn't funny!
The first excerpt moves along quickly and is well written. I sort of like the wry sense of humor in the play on names. Although I'm not generally partial to Western romances, I'm giving this book at least another day or two.
Ya the names are kinda funny . But I just think it adds to the book. I actually bought he book and am a little further n my reading other then whats posted. And it really is a pretty good book.
